Co-founder of Medicus Partners, Jim Stone has been in the physician search industry since 1995. He assists clients in properly establishing physician search efforts and is a member of the Ethics Committee for the National Association of Physician Recruiters. He began his career as part of the MHA Group eventually becoming the Director of the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Stone later became the founder of Executech, located in Dallas and Los Angeles. Mr. Stone earned his B.B.A. in marketing from Texas Christian University, and his opinions and search efforts have been published in media outlets such as Modern Healthcare and The Dallas Morning News. He enjoys spending time with his wife and his two children, James and Allison.
Bob Collins has been providing clients with recruitment strategy advice and consultation since 1989. He oversees the physician recruitment activities for our Dallas and Atlanta offices. In addition, he leads recruiting efforts for and is instrumental to the success of our Physician Executive and Academic divisions. Based in Austin, Texas, Mr. Collins co-founded Medicus Partners (established 2001), which merged into The Medicus Firm in 2009. Prior to this, Mr. Collins held highly respected positions within the industry, including Senior Executive Recruiter for Dell Computer Corporation where he was responsible for the recruitment of executives for their health care vertical. As a noted authority on medical staffing, Mr. Collins serves as a guest speaker for U.S. medical schools and residencies. His ideas, expertise, and perspectives on physician staffing have been published in media outlets such as Modern Healthcare, Medical Economics, and Health Leaders and has served on the Education Committee for the National Association of Physician Recruiters.Mr. Collins earned his B.B.A. in finance from the University of North Texas. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Travis County Center for Child Protection, a children’s advocacy center. He has also actively participated in the Mentor Program for Round Rock I.S.D. and Leander I.S.D. since 2007. Bob and his wife Stephanie live in Austin and together have 3 children. He enjoys playing golf, exercising, traveling and watching their children play sports and cheer.
Regional Vice President
Based in Dallas, Justin works with clients in the Great Lakes region. A healthcare recruiter since 2006, he has comprehensive knowledge of contract negotiation and market analysis as it relates to physician recruitment and retention. Since joining The Medicus Firm, Mr. Ballinger has received numerous accolades, including the Rising Star Award in 2009 and the Referral Award in 2011. Prior to his employment here, he served as a New Physician Consultant for another physician search firm in the area. Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Mr. Ballinger has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the University of Kansas. When Justin is away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kara, staying active and fishing whenever possible. He is also a devoted fan of all Minnesota professional sports teams and the Kansas Jayhawks.
Christian Beca has over 10 years of experience in recruiting physicians, new business development and hospital and pharmaceutical recruiting. Mr Beca is a lead recruiter in our Western Region and works primarily with clients in California and academic medical centers in the Western US. Prior to his work with The Medicus Firm he led a recruiting department for another physician recruiting firm. Mr. Beca was the Regional Director of Recruiting from 2004 to 2008 and achieved “Recruiter of the Year” for all four of those years. Originally from Southern California, Mr Beca lives in Dallas with his children. He is currently continuing his education with pre-law studies at Penn State University and is active with his father’s charity, Food for Life.
Becky Becker is based in our Atlanta office, working closely with clients in the Southeastern region. She possesses more than seven years of physician recruiting experience, and helped start the surgery division at one of the nation’s largest physician recruitment companies. There, she attained the President’s Club award each year, and went on to win several awards on the business development side of the permanent retained physician recruiting industry with The Medicus Firm. She is now back to her recruiting roots with The Medicus Firm, and enjoys serving her clients and physicians on a daily basis. Becky grew up in Florida and attended Florida State University in Tallahassee. For almost eight years now, Becky has resided north of Atlanta in Canton, GA, with her husband Brian and two yellow labs, Spencer and Jasmine.
Regional Vice President
Mr Bilbray works closely with clients in the firm’s Mid-atlantic region. Prior to joining The Medicus Firm in 2012, Allen Bilbray held key leadership positions with two nationally retained physician recruitment firms, receiving recruiter of the year honors on two separate occasions for top performance. He also served as Vice President of Operations for a physician practice in the DFW area. Originally from Lubbock, TX, Mr. Bilbray served as a Hospital Corpsman with the United States Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm completing two tours in the Persian Gulf Region. He received his education at Texas Tech University and lives in Flower Mound, TX with his daughter. While not at work, he is a hockey player, and his daughter plays competitive volleyball.
Specializing in production-based recruiting environments in the Central Region, Robert Clarke has worked in the physician recruiting industry since 1998. Prior to joining the former Medicus Partners, Mr. Clarke held leadership positions with other retained physician recruiting organizations. Mr. Clarke has received many top honors, including the highest ratings for customer satisfaction and placed the most physicians in 2007 and 2009. Robert Clarke, a native of Dallas, TX, is married to Charisma, a labor and delivery nurse, and they have two boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and playing golf.
Jason Farr is a Principal, working with The Medicus Firm’s clients in the Southern region. He has been in the physician search industry since 2007 and his areas of expertise include physician recruitment, compensation analysis, contract negotiation and establishing strong partnerships with physicians and clients. Before joining The Medicus Firm, Mr. Farr served as the Director of Recruiting at another physician recruiting firm, and received numerous honors and accolades for consistent production, leadership and client satisfaction. Mr. Farr is a Six Sigma Black Belt and received the “Rising Star” award in 2011. Mr. Farr and his wife Traci reside in Midlothian, TX, and have three children–Mackenzie, Chloe and Alexander. Outside of work, Mr. Farr enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering at church, and working out. He is also a loyal Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks fan.
Working primarily with clients in New England, Jeff Guarnera has gone above and beyond to recruit physicians into all geographic and professional settings. Before his work at the MD Firm, Mr. Guarnera worked as a Senior Search Associate for Merritt, Hawkins, and Associates and was a Nursing Division Manager at Supplemental Health Care. With 9 years of recruitment and management experience, he has won awards such as “Recruiter of the Month,” “Impact Player of the Month” and “Top Performers Club.” Originally from Massachusetts, Jeff lives in Atlanta with his wife and children, Amanda, Alex and Kensley.
Senior Vice President
Steve Look has been in the physician recruiting business since 2000 and is based in Dallas, TX. Mr. Look works with a broad range of clients including major health systems and small private groups in the Western and Southern US, where he holds regional leadership positions. His areas of expertise include physician and hospital staff recruitment, consultation and contract negotiation. Mr. Look has worked with such prestigious hospitals as John Hopkins and Duke University’s medical systems. In 2011, Mr. Look was awarded his 4th “Top Producer of the Year” Award at The Medicus Firm and he has won many other awards for top production and excellent client satisfaction. Before joining The Medicus Firm in 2005, he co-founded a health care staffing firm in Dallas, Med Stat Inc. and served as Director of Recruiting for another search firm. Steve is originally from El Paso, Texas and earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University. He currently resides in Richardson, Texas with his wife Jessica and their daughter Lauren. Outside of work Steve is an avid endurance athlete, having completed 5 half-Ironman triathlons and numerous cycling/running/triathlon events across the country. He also enjoys watching pro and college football as a loyal fan of Texas Tech and the Dallas Cowboys.
A part of the medical recruiting business for 10 years, Mark Lozano is currently based in Dallas. Mr Lozano is the firm’s lead recruiter for academic medical centers across the US. Mr. Lozano is well-versed in contract negotiation and market trends as they pertain to physician recruitment and retention. Before joining Medicus Partners, Mr. Lozano worked for a start-up health care sourcing company. His great attitude, consistent performance and personalized service allowed him to receive many honors. Mark is originally from San Antonio, Texas and has a Bachelor’s in communications from Texas Tech University. Outside of work, he enjoys playing soccer and baseball, as well as writing and painting.

Nathan Miller works at our Dallas office location and has extensive experience working with clients in the Southern markets of Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. Mr. Miller has recruited physicians into various hospital and private practice settings since 2004, having previously served as a Senior Recruiter for two national search firms in Dallas. He has received honors such as Company MVP, Platinum Club Award Winner and most recently Recruiter of the Year in 2012. Nathan, originally from Oklahoma City, attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University on a basketball scholarship where he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in psychology. Following his playing career, Nathan spent three years as an assistant basketball coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State. He currently resides in Dallas with his wife Jenna, daughter Aubrey, and is expecting a son in 2014.

Brian Nichols is the Regional Vice President of Recruiting for The Medicus Firm’s Carolinas Region, which includes the states of North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. His areas of expertise include physician and hospital staff recruitment, contract negotiation and needs assessment. Brian earned the “2009 Producer of the Year Award” for The Medicus Firm Atlanta office and also earned the prestigious “Highest Client Satisfaction” award as a result of his professionalism and consistent success on behalf of his clients. Brian previously served as Executive Vice President of Practice Development for a radiology company. Brian lives in Atlanta with his wife Missy and his son Addison, and for fun he enjoys home remodeling, playing golf and playing sports with his son..
Regional Vice President
Based in Dallas and working with clients in the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley regions, Mark Nolen has been in health care consulting for over 15 years. He is a two-time winner of The Medicus Firm’s Recruiter of the Year award and most recently won the “Burning Tire” award for filling the most searches the fastest for 2010. Mr. Nolen specializes in emergency room contract information, contract negotiation, physician recruitment and medical compliance. He has experience with Emergency Care Services, EmCare and Harris, Kovacs and Alderman. In international sales, Mark worked in Bath, England in 1991 with the Gap, Ltd and later served as Vice President – U.S. Operations for a British nurse staffing firm. Mark received his Bachelor of Science in international trade from Texas Tech University and currently lives in Dallas with his wife Emily and their daughter. Mark enjoys scuba diving, traveling, sailing, and spending time with family.

Working with clients in the Central region, Mark Saurette has been in the physician recruitment business since 2000. He focuses on medical staffing needs analysis, physician recruitment, and medical contract negotiation. Before beginning his physician search career, Mr. Saurette worked with Pepsi Cola Co., holding a number of sales and management positions. From there he held positions at national retained physician recruitment firms. Mr. Saurette was the recipient of the Medicus Partners’ “MVP” award for 2007 and “The Difference Maker” award for 2008. He also earned the 2009 and 2010 “Producer of the Year” Award, and the 2011 “Burning Tire” Award for The Medicus Firm’s Dallas office. Mark’s bachelor’s degree in business administration came from LeTourneau University. Mark and his wife, Ashley, have three children. Their oldest attends the University of Texas at Austin and their younger two are in elementary school. While not at work, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, working out, and volunteering at church related activities.
A veteran of the physician recruiting industry since 2001, Rey Benavidez serves clients in the Mid-Atlantic. His areas of expertise include client relationship and contract negotiation. Prior to joining The Medicus Firm in 2012, Mr. Benavidez held key leadership positions with two national retained physician recruitment firms. Mr. Benavidez has received numerous awards for top performance, leadership and client satisfaction throughout his career. He received his education from Marine Corps University and Coastal Carolina College and studied Business Administration.
Originally from Dallas, TX, Mr. Benavidez served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm. He lives in Celina, TX with his wife Kari and he enjoys spending time with his four children. Away from the office, Mr. Benavidez likes to stay active in sports as well as volunteer for his sons’ football and baseball teams. An avid music lover, he can often be found in his home studio.

Jamie Thomas is based in our Atlanta office, working closely with clients in the Southeast. With success in rural as well as urban markets, The Medicus Firm awarded him with the title of “Difference Maker” last year. Before beginning his journey with us, Mr. Thomas was a Senior Physician Recruiter for two other search firms based in Dallas. While there, he received honors like “Award of Excellence” and “Recruiter of the Quarter.” Jamie lives with his wife Jessica and three children. A native of Ohio, he attended Ohio State University.
Based in the Dallas office, Kyle O’Connor works with clients in the Ohio Valley region. Mr. O’Connor has recruited physicians for a wide range of facilities since 2007, having previously served as a Senior Recruiter for another healthcare search firm in Dallas. He has received numerous awards including Recruiter of the Month and prides himself on providing a high level of transparency and service to clients. Kyle is originally from Kansas City and has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Economics from Kansas State University. Outside of the office, Kyle enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, and supporting K-State athletics.
DeAndra Ransom is a Recruiting Consultant in our Atlanta office. Mrs. Ransom works with The Medicus Firm’s clients in the Southeast Region. She is a seasoned veteran of the healthcare industry, with experience ranging from pharmaceutical sales to physician recruitment. Mrs. Ransom has a keen ability to thoroughly understand the unique needs of each of her clients and physicians. Her high degree of integrity and honesty, coupled with a consultative and strategic approach to physician recruitment allow her to fully invest in what she likes to describe as “professional matchmaking. “Mrs. Ransom is a Chicago native and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, reclaiming antique furniture, writing, painting, rollerblading and playing chess.
Evan Reece, based in the Dallas office, works with our clients in the Southern Region. Mr. Reece joined The Medicus Firm in 2011 after completing his Master’s Degree in Health Psychology from Texas State University in San Marcos. Originally from Mansfield, TX, Evan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from McMurry University where he was on the baseball team. In his free time, Evan enjoys spending time with his wife, Candice, and playing golf. He is also an avid fan of the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys.
Senior Recruiting Consultant
Lisa Lewis is a Senior Recruiting Consultant for The Medicus Firm’s Carolinas Region, which includes the states of North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.After 15 years of successful consulting experience in a variety of business to business settings, Lisa applied her skills in strategic problem solving, communication, and project management to physician recruiting in 2010.Lisa’s client-focused work ethic and keen ability to pinpoint the most suitable candidate fit for healthcare employers helped her to excel as a physician recruiting consultant and to exceed her goals . She earned Recruiter of the Year for placing the most physicians in 2011, Presidents Club, and several quarterly recruiting awards. Lisa truly enjoys the matchmaking aspect of recruiting, and is passionate about bringing physician candidates together with great practice opportunities that help them achieve their personal and professional goals. In her spare time, Lisa volunteers at the local County Humane Society, and as a Kindergarten small group leader at Northpoint Community Church.
Dustin Jonas comes to The Medicus Firm from AstraZeneca where he spent nearly two years as a Customer Service Associate. In that time, Mr. Jonas managed clients throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex while serving a wide array of physicians’ offices.Mr. Jonas received his BA from Texas Tech University where he was also a walk-on member of the Red Raider football team. Mr. Jonas is an avid sports fan and loves the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and hiking. Mr. Jonas lives in Dallas with his wife Annie and their dog Gingy.
Kevin M. Blair is a Dallas based Principal managing recruitment activity in the Great Lakes region. Kevin has been in the healthcare recruitment business for over 15 years working on both the Corporate Human Resources and Agency sides. He spent the first ten years of his career in the retained physician search arena working with the national firms of Harris Kovacs and Alderman and Medical Doctor Associates. In recent years he has been employed as Senior Clinical Recruiter by VHA/Novation, Blue Cross Blue Shield and AmerisourceBergen Pharmaceuticals. Kevin is an experienced and well rounded recruiter having placed literally hundreds of healthcare professionals within the patient care, insurance and pharmaceutical industries including Physicians, RN Case Managers, Clinical Trials Educators, Medical Executives, PharmD’s and PhD’s. He is also an experienced trainer in behavioral based interviewing and HR compliance. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications Studies and English from Texas Tech University. Outside the office Kevin is an avid golfer, fisherman, outdoorsman and Red Raider Football fan but most importantly a devoted husband and father to wife Bethani and three children.
Drew Pierce has 10 years’ experience in physician recruitment, successfully providing a broad range of physician recruitment services for his clients. He is based in The Medicus Firm’s Dallas office and serves the Western U.S. region. Prior to joining TMF, Mr. Pierce was a Director of Recruiting at another national search firm. Throughout his career, he has received numerous “top producer” awards and was voted “Most Influential” by his peers in 2010 based on his work ethic as it related to his clients’ needs. Mr. Pierce has earned a reputation for going the extra mile in an effort to serve his clients. Born and raised in Dallas, Drew earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. He now resides in Frisco, TX with his son, Andrew, with whom he shares his passion for sports, including football, volleyball and golf. They also enjoy traveling to Austin each Fall to watch Texas Longhorns football games.
Jenna Phillips is a Recruiting consultant in our Dallas office. She works closely with clients in The Medicus Firm’s Central Region. Ms. Phillips is a veteran of the healthcare industry as well as the service industry. She has extensive experience working with a wide variety of healthcare professionals in inpatient and outpatient settings. Her integrity and dedication allow her to build strong relationships with her clients. She is originally from the Detroit area and currently resides in North Dallas with her husband, daughter, Lillianna, and her dogs. Ms. Phillips is a sports fan and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Based in the Dallas office, Chad Rudel is a Principal and works closely with clients in our South Region. With nearly 20 years of physician recruiting experience, he has held leadership positions with other national search firms prior to joining The Medicus Firm, and has earned Recruiter of the Year awards 11 times in his career. Originally from Houston, TX, Mr. Rudel pursued his studies at Angelo State University and currently lives in Flower Mound, TX. He is married to Lieann and has two daughters, Berkeley and Abby. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, riding his Harley, working out, cooking and watching his daughter play competitive soccer. Chad is also a loyal Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys fan.
Dan Jennings is a Principal in the recruiting department of The Medicus Firm’s Carolinas Region. Dan has worked in the retained physician recruitment industry since 2003. He has been a leader with some of the country’s largest physician recruitment firms. During that time, Dan was recognized as a consistent leader and top producer. He was regularly awarded recruiter of the month and has been recognized with different firms as a Recruiter of the Year and Associate of the Year. Dan has a philosophy of putting his clients first, and doing everything that he can to place a doctor that is going to be a long-term fit. Dan lives in the Atlanta area with his wife Amanda and three children. When not recruiting physicians, Dan enjoys spending time with family and rooting on the Atlanta Braves and Falcons.
Peter Doll is a recruiter in our Dallas office and works with clients located in the Northeast region of the United States. Peter has been in healthcare staffing for several years and was with Talent Medical Staffing prior to joining The Medicus Firm. In his time at Talent Medical Staffing Peter gained extensive knowledge in all areas of recruitment including cold calling, contract negotiations and business development. Originally from Dallas, TX, Peter earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in Telecommunications from Baylor University in Waco, TX. During his time at Baylor Peter was actively involved with the university radio station, KWBU. Peter is an avid music lover and spends much of his time playing guitar, seeing live music and spending time with friends and family.
Wes Jones is a Principal recruiter in The Medicus Firm’s Atlanta office, and serves clients in the Southeast Region. Wes has worked in the recruiting industry since 2001, focusing on Physician Recruitment in the Southeast since 2003, and has been a leader with both large recruitment firms, and local hospitals. Throughout his career, Wes has been recognized as a consistent leader, and has always been among The Medicus Firm’s top producers. Understanding that physician retention is just as important as recruitment, Wes strives to fully understand the complexities of his clients’ searches, and always places an emphasis on providing candidates who show the best possibility for long-term fit, both for the client organization and the community. Wes lives in the Atlanta area with his wife Megan and two sons, Raymes and Mason. When not recruiting physicians, Wes enjoys exercising, playing golf, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons with family and friends.
Xavier Ybarra is a recruiter in the Dallas office serving The Medicus Firm’s clients in the Great Lakes Region. Throughout his career Mr. Ybarra has striven to deliver superior results for his clients through constant communication and attention to detail. Prior to joining TMF he spent over a decade in the financial field in both the mortgage industry and debt settlement. When away from work you can find Xavier first and foremost spending time with his daughter and enjoying her soccer games or playing golf, bay fishing and mountain biking.
Jennifer Doing is a recruiting consultant in our Dallas office and serves clients in our Ohio Valley Region. She takes great pride in truly partnering with her clients and serving them with integrity and diligence. Prior to joining TMF, Jennifer had a long and successful career in equipment sales where she was her company’s top sales producer for numerous years. Miss Doing graduated from Kilgore Junior College, which she attended on a dance and academic scholarship. Jennifer lives in Dallas and enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dog.
Senior Recruiting Consultant
Crystal Baldwin is a Senior Recruiting Consultant in the Medicus Firm’s Northeast Region, serving clients in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Maryland. Ms. Baldwin had many years of successful recruiting experience prior to joining TMF, having served for years as a corporate physician recruiter for a large health system in New Jersey as well as a corporate physician recruiter with a national hospitalist/ED staffing firm. Having been on all sides of physician recruiting gives Crystal invaluable experience that enables her to produce excellent results for her Medicus Firm clients. Originally from New Jersey, Crystal completed her undergraduate education at Temple University, and earned her Master’s Degree in Human Resources at Lincoln University in Philadelphia. She is a Certified Medical Staff Recruiter through the American Academy of Medical Management, and was an active member with NEPRA (Northeast Physician Recruiter Association) during her time as an in-house physician recruiter.
Mickey Sheehan is a Recruiting Consultant in our Dallas office and works with TMF clients in the South Region. He is a seasoned sales and recruiting professional with over 15 years of top performance in multiple disciplines. Prior to joining TMF, Mickey co-founded a national physician search firm and was a key contributor in all aspects of the business, including recruiting, business development and day to day operations.
Mickey’s strong commitment to integrity, trust and relationship building has translated into numerous awards, honors and recognition. Mickey currently resides in North Dallas with his wife Beth, daughter Sydney, son Jake and three dogs. Away from work Mickey enjoys boating, college football, fishing and spending time with his family.
Matthew Smeltzer is a recruiter based in our Atlanta office and serves clients in the Southeast Region. With a diverse background in sales and account management, he enjoys working with clients to find a solution that is beneficial for both parties. Prior to beginning his career as a physician recruiter, Matthew worked as a software consultant and as a teacher and basketball coach. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. When he is not at work, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife Amy, playing basketball, golf and tennis, and watching Georgia football (Go Dawgs!).
