Practice Highlights

•       Work-Life Balance: 40-hour clinical week with protected non-clinical time; shift groups rotate throughout the week with early end times (3p-6p). Friday 8a start due to resident lectures.

•       Desirable Practice Setting: 100% medical direction model - Anesthesiology faculty cover 2-3 rooms working alongside residents, AAs, and CRNAs. Specialized OB, head, and heart teams handle those cases, letting you focus where you're most needed.

•       Optimal Patient Volume: UNM Anesthesiology team sees 25K cases per year across 38 total ORs upon completion of the new Critical Care Tower - one of the most comprehensive Anesthesiology platforms in the Southwest.

•       Leadership Opportunities: Active resident and fellow education encouraged; Grand Rounds, lectures, and mentorship opportunities available. Research authorship compensated ($5K first author / $3K second author).

Compensation & Benefits

•       Competitive Compensation: $430K-$520K+ total compensation; base salary $360K-$410K dependent on academic rank (90% clinical / 10% incentive model).

•       Sign-On Bonus: $30,000 sign-on bonus.

•       Relocation Assistance: $15,000 relocation assistance.

•       Additional Bonus Incentives: Additional shift compensation up to $400/shift; call pay at $200/hr — potential for $100K-$150K additional annual earnings in call compensation.

•       Student Loan Repayment Assistance: State loan repayment programs available; UNM is a nonprofit organization.

•       Professional Development: $5,000 CME allowance + 2 weeks CME time; research authorship bonus ($5K/$3K).

Qualifications

•       Degree: MD/DO

•       Certifications: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology

•       Licensure: Active New Mexico license or eligible to obtain one
