Position Highlights:

PEDIATRIC DENTIST

Lexington, KY Area

Lead Your Own Practice With a Clear Path to Partnership

Position Highlights

  • Work-Life Balance: Four-day workweek with 12 days off per year, so your Fridays can belong to you, your family, or the nearest fishing hole.
  • Desirable Practice Setting: Step into the only dedicated pediatric practice in town, a regional destination for families across Central and Eastern Kentucky with 2,500+ active patients and 5 new patients walking in daily.
  • Ideal Work Environment: A fully digital, paperless office with 6 chairs, cloud-based Dentrix Ascend, and state-of-the-art technology, including an intraosseous anesthesia system that providers say has changed the way they practice.
  • Favorable Call Schedule: After-hours calls are triaged by a seasoned office manager, so you're only contacted for true emergencies.
  • Culture & Support: Clinical autonomy with no dictated procedure mix or daily collection minimums, backed by a stable, tenured team, an area manager, a nearby pediatric mentor doctor, and full support for HR, marketing, recruiting, and operations. Private practice feel, zero islands.
  • Partnership Opportunities: Join a doctor-owned group that chose independence over private equity. Partnership is typically 3 to 5 years and can be fast-tracked for doctors leading their own office, with a buy-in of roughly $250K to $300K (versus $1M to $2M to purchase a practice) and current partners seeing 25% to 32% returns.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Greater of a $300,000 guaranteed base (a true floor, not a draw) or 30% of net collections, reconciled monthly with no lab fee deductions. A realistic growth path to $1.35M in collections puts earnings around $405,000.
  • Additional Bonus Incentives: The real bonus is ownership. Partnership brings a compensation increase, profit distributions, and retained earnings.
  • Sign-On Bonus: $25,000 paid in full on your first paycheck.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: W2 employment with medical, dental, and vision coverage plus a 401(k) with employer match.
  • Relocation Assistance: Included within the $25,000 sign-on bonus, giving you flexibility to use it however your move requires.
  • Student Loan Repayment Assistance: Up to $200,000 in loan forgiveness upon partnership.
  • Professional Development: Leadership development program, one-on-one mentorship, and the freedom to build special interests (such as tongue and lip tie releases) into the practice.
  • Additional Benefits: Paid malpractice, reimbursable DEA registration, Medicaid credentialing support and in-office sedation support.

Qualifications

  • Degree: DDS or DMD with completion of an accredited pediatric dental residency.
  • Certifications: Board certified or board eligible in pediatric dentistry (certification preferred).
  • Licensure: Kentucky dental license or eligibility to obtain one. An active Kentucky Medicaid ID is a plus, and credentialing support is provided.
  • Skillset: Confident in full-scope pediatric care, including restorative treatment and sedation, with strong behavior management skills and a genuine desire to lead a team.
  • Experience: Two to three years preferred, such as a prior pediatric associate role. Recent residency graduates with general dentistry experience before residency are encouraged to apply.
  • Sponsorship: Candidates who do not require visa sponsorship are preferred.

About the Community

  • Top Ranked Location: Within easy reach of Lexington, the Horse Capital of the World, known for its rolling bluegrass, thriving food scene and high quality of life.
  • Rural Community: A welcoming small town where families are loyal, neighbors know your name and your patients may wave at you in the grocery store.
  • Lifestyle & Affordability: Enjoy a low cost of living and room to breathe, with home prices that make "big yard" a reality instead of a wish list item.
  • Prime Location: About 45 minutes from Lexington and 1.5 hours from Cincinnati, with a straight-shot commute from Lexington's east side for those who prefer city living.
  • Education: Access to strong local schools plus nearby higher education, including the University of Kentucky, Transylvania University, and Morehead State University.
  • Community Attributes: A close-knit town with a historic downtown, a solid manufacturing and employment base, a regional health care network and a deep-rooted fall festival tradition that brings former residents home every year.
  • Easy Travel: Right off I-64 with Blue Grass Airport (LEX) about an hour away and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International (CVG) within easy driving distance.
  • Vibrant Lifestyle: Explore the Bourbon Trail, catch the races at Keeneland, hike Red River Gorge, cheer on the Wildcats, and head home to small-town quiet at the end of the day.

About the Area

Lexington, KY Community Resources

Lexington, Kentucky, known as the Horse Capital of the World, blends Southern charm with modern energy to create one of the most livable mid-sized cities in America. With a vibrant cultural scene, a strong sense of community, and a thriving economy, Lexington offers the best of both worlds — the amenities of a metro with the friendliness and beauty of a college town. Home to the University of Kentucky, the city pulses with youthful energy, diverse restaurants, and a calendar full of festivals, concerts, and sporting events.

If you love the outdoors, Lexington’s scenic beauty and recreational opportunities won’t disappoint. Rolling bluegrass hills, miles of hiking and biking trails, and nearby access to Red River Gorge — one of the best climbing and hiking spots in the country — make it a haven for nature lovers. You can also enjoy kayaking along Elkhorn Creek, golfing on championship courses, or simply exploring the many parks spread throughout the city.

The cost of living in Lexington is notably affordable, with housing prices well below the national average. Whether you're looking for a charming historic home downtown, a spacious family house in the suburbs, or a modern apartment near campus, Lexington offers options to suit every lifestyle. Add in highly rated public and private schools, and it's no wonder the city is a favorite among families and young professionals alike.

Culturally, Lexington punches well above its weight. A nationally acclaimed culinary scene (especially if you like bourbon and Southern fare), a vibrant downtown arts district, live music venues, and historic sites make for a well-rounded lifestyle. And with Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport offering nonstop service to major hubs, you’re never far from your next adventure.
