Nearby: Tallahassee, FL

Best known as Florida's capital city, Tallahassee shares a deep-rooted history and culture with unparalleled natural adventure and an upbeat vitality. From performing arts to outdoors and nature, Tallahassee offers something for everyone. Tallahassee defies the stereotypes most people hold about Florida with its rolling hills and canopied roads of moss-draped oaks. The Capital City shares a deep-rooted history and culture with ample doses of fun and authenticity. A fusion of cosmopolitan flair and Southern charm defines the city. Situated on Florida’s I-10 corridor in the Panhandle, Tallahassee is a place where college town meets history, politics meets culture and natural adventures abound.
Tallahassee is home to Florida State University, Florida A&M University and, of course, Florida's Legislature. The New Capitol building rises at the center of Tallahassee's downtown, next to the more classic Old Capitol. A gallery atop the 22-story New Capitol provides a sweeping view of the hilly city and its tree-lined streets. A 10-block historic district preserves Tallahassee's gracious old homes along a linear park and a historic inn, bars and restaurants patronized by legislators, students and everyone in between. Tallahassee, a center for trade and agriculture, also boasts a vibrant community and amazing parks and gardens. Tallahassee was named the No. 9 South's Best City as part of the magazine's third annual South's Best Awards and is the only city in Florida to be recognized in this category.
Basking in a warm, sunny climate, Tallahassee has just what millions of Americans seek. Summers are long, warm and relaxing — with golf available 12 months a year. Here, winter is refreshingly cool, yet you’ll be comfortable strolling around outdoors in shorts and a T-shirt on many sunny January afternoons. Flowers bloom every February, and it’s only snowed in Tallahassee seven times in history. Often described as “The Other Florida” with its deep-rooted history, rolling hills, mild climate, Southern-style hospitality and canopy roads of moss-draped oaks, it is a Florida few have seen, but many wish they had. Tallahassee offers museums, parks, art galleries, and a natural-habitat zoo.
