Peoria, Illinois,is a world-class city in the heart of the Midwest. Peoria is located near the center of Illinois, the crossroads of the United States. It’s a dynamic city experiencing unprecedented growth—especially along its prized riverfront, where new restaurants, shops, businesses and residential areas appear almost monthly. Peoria is the ideal home that blends the coziness of a smaller community with all the amenities of the largest metropolis.

Scenic landscapes, a newly developed riverfront, and thriving business and cultural communities make this city a great place to live or to visit. Residents of Peoria have an enviable standard of living, exciting venues within a 15 to 20 minute drive from their homes, safe streets, quality shopping, their own symphony and ballet, a Broadway Theater League, museums, art guilds, and first-class medical facilities that are a regional draw.
Peoria ranks among U.S. News & World Report's "10 Hottest Cities”, a judgment based not on average summertime temperatures, but on Peoria's astounding economic growth. The city is booming; existing businesses are expanding, and new high-tech firms are increasing in number. There are job opportunities galore! All this makes Peoria a "Hot City." To the more than 380,000 people who live in the three-county Peoria area, it also makes it a cool place to live and raise a family.

The city is considered the oldest continuously inhabited American community west of the Allegheny Mountains. Another of Peoria's distinctions is its typicality: in terms of such demographic characteristics as median age and purchasing patterns, the city's general makeup is almost identical to that of the United States as a whole, thus making it an ideal test market for consumer researchers. A vaudeville-era phrase, "to play in Peoria," is still used to characterize the thoughts and habits of a "typical" American.
