About the Area

St. Marys, OH Community Resources

St. Marys is located along the shoreline of Grand Lake St. Marys, in West Central Ohio. It is located in Auglaize County and is included in the Wapakoneta Micropolitan Statistical Area. St. Marys is well-positioned among the major cities of Toledo, OH; Columbus, OH; Dayton, OH; and Ft. Wayne, IN.
St. Marys has big-city amenities nearby while retaining a smaller-city charm in its neighborhoods and tree-lined streets. The town and the surrounding area of Auglaize County provide an excellent variety of recreation and entertainment for the entire family.
St. Marys City Schools have been rated “excellent” by the Ohio Board of Education. The newly constructed Memorial High School has a beautiful Performing Arts Center where the community enjoys band and choral concerts as well as theatrical productions.
Arts Place, located in downtown St. Marys, offers their community a fine portrayal of both local and regional artist exhibits, fully enhancing an ever-growing need for adult and children-based art activities.
The College Community Arts Council sponsors programs throughout the year, such as the Irish step dancing, jazz trio, Silver Corner Band, the Dayton Philharmonic String Quartet, a saxophone orchestra, and more.
Civic pride is important in St. Marys and their residents have many opportunities to be involved in the community. Community projects have provided the city with a replica canal boat, a covered bridge, a grotto along the St. Mary's River, and several tributes to their Veterans.

Nearby: Dayton, OH

Dayton is situated in the Miami Valley of Ohio, just north of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The Birthplace of Aviation, Dayton, was once home to powered flight inventors Wilbur and Orville Wright.
This remarkable city has been named an “All-America City” three times. Today Dayton, Ohio, offers great attractions and historical sites, fantastic art venues, a thriving downtown, beautiful parks, various sporting sites, and fabulous shopping and dining.
This community, rich in talent and history, is emerging today as a global technology hub. Dayton prides itself on big city amenities coupled with Midwestern charm and hospitality.
Experience the thrills and action of this cosmopolitan city. Enjoy Dayton Dragons minor league baseball, a first-class musical at the new Schuster Performing Arts Center, an exhibit at the Dayton Art Institute, comedy clubs, and nightlife. Or step away from the urban landscape and relax with a cup of coffee at an outdoor café in one of the outlying communities. Enjoy an independent film. Spend the day hiking, strolling along bike trails, and breathing the same air as the Wright Brothers and other pioneers. Spend a day exploring Dayton’s rich history: the Wright Cycle Shop, the US Air Force Museum, the Paul Laurence Dunbar House, and Carillon Historical Park.

It’s rare to find a locale where two worlds exist so effortlessly: where shopping outlets mingle with art museums; sports arenas coexist with historic sites; thriving communities share space with scenic green expanses; and fun-filled daytime destinations are paired with a flourishing nightlife.
