Neuromuscular Neurologist - Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
Seeking a Neuromuscular Neurologist to join a highly collaborative and growing Neurology Department. This position offers a well-balanced schedule with an emphasis on outpatient neuromuscular care and EMG studies, combined with periodic inpatient consult service. Protected time for administrative and scholarly activities is also built into the role.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the esteemed faculty at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso's Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. The Department of Neurology is committed to excellence in patient care, education, and research.
Position Highlights
- Balanced schedule: ~80% outpatient / 20% inpatient consult service

Typical Schedule
- Non-consult weeks: Monday-Friday with 4.5 days clinic + 0.5 day administrative time
- Consult weeks: Reduced clinic + inpatient consults, light after-hours call, and weekend coverage
Outpatient Responsibilities
- Equivalent of 4.5 clinic days per week (including 0.5 day admin time)
- 2-3 days general neuromuscular clinic + 1 day EMG studies (onsite equipment)
- EMG testing and nerve conduction studies performed in-clinic
Inpatient/Consult Service
- Rotate onto hospital-based general neurology consult service 1 week every 4-6 weeks
- Outpatient clinic volume reduced during consult weeks
- Consults only - no stroke call, no direct admissions
- Light call, mostly handled by residents; rare in-person hospital visits required
- Weekend coverage during assigned consult week
Call Structure
- Call assigned only during inpatient consult weeks
- No call obligations during regular outpatient weeks
Academic Role
- Engage in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly projects with Neurology colleagues
- Protected academic time based on candidate's interests (up to 0.5-1 day per week possible)
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO
- BC/ BE in Neurology
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency Program
- Texas Medical License, or be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship trained in Neuromuscular Medicine
- Experience in Neuromuscular Medicine
