Academic Neurologist - Epilepsy


Seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Epileptologist to join a thriving neurology division with a focus on adult outpatient epilepsy care, EEG interpretation, and optional pediatric epilepsy collaboration. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a collegial, academically oriented environment with a well-balanced schedule, shared call, and flexibility to pursue pediatric interests if desired.

Typical Schedule

  • Non-call weeks: 4.5 outpatient days (clinic + EEG) + 0.5 administrative time
  • Clinic/EEG split: ~2 days patient visits, ~2 days EEG interpretation
  • Call weeks: Reduced clinic schedule to accommodate EEG and inpatient responsibilities

Outpatient Responsibilities

  • 4.5 outpatient days per week, Monday-Friday
  • Combination of clinic visits and EEG interpretation
  • EEG studies performed on-site, with flexibility to interpret remotely

Call Rotation

  • EEG call: 1 in 2 weeks, often overlapping with inpatient service
  • Each epileptologist takes 1 week of call every 4-6 weeks
  • Responsibilities include EEG interpretation (remote capable) and inpatient consult follow-up
  • Call is shared within the epilepsy team and is included in compensation
  • Call assigned only during inpatient consult weeks
  • No call obligations during regular outpatient weeks

Academic Role

  • Engage in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly projects with Neurology colleagues
  • Protected academic time based on candidate's interests (up to 0.5-1 day per week possible)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • BC/ BE in Neurology
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency Program
  • Texas Medical License, or be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellowship trained in Epilepsy
  • Experience in Epilepsy
