Position Summary
The Chief has responsibility and accountability, at a leadership level, to ensure that services and programs provided through the Surgical Critical Care units area are patient/family focused, clinically excellent, operationally efficient, and achieve effective outcomes in clinical quality, safety, cost, experience, and professional staff engagement. The long-term goal would be to standardize the delivery of evidence-based critical care across the continuum of critical care units providing care to surgical patients. The focus of the Chief’s leadership responsibility is to inspire, mentor, develop, and provide direction for the critical care attendings and staff. The Chief monitors and supports the clinical acumen and engagement of professional staff and advances the knowledge, skill portfolio and professional involvement to meet current and future needs. This position will have a minimum expectation of 0.3 FTE.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a complex and matrixed environment. A strong background in the delivery of critical care, as well as a familiarity with the fields of health services research, quality improvement, and safety are desired.
