Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field (for MLS or MT designation).


Certification (one of the following):

  • MLT (ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Technician, certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology
  • MLS (ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Scientist, certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology
  • MT (AMT) - Medical Technologist, certified by the American Medical Technologists

Licensure:

Must meet North Dakota licensure requirements for Medical Laboratory Personnel (Note: North Dakota currently does not have state-specific licensure for lab techs, but employers may require national certification).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) or more years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, specimen processing, and use of laboratory instruments
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA standards
