The Medicus Firm’s latest survey takes a deep dive into providers’ practice and relocation preferences to help you attract ideal candidates.
DALLAS, TX – August 15, 2022 – The Medicus Firm, a national healthcare recruitment firm, released its 19th annual “Provider Practice & Relocation Preference Survey” today to assess providers' practice and geographical location preferences.
This survey, conducted in April 2022, had more than 2,200 physicians and advanced practice provider professionals in various specialties respond. According to the survey, the top two reasons providers would change jobs are for 1.) a better quality of life (32.6%) and 2.) increased compensation (27.5%).

The number of providers who stated they were "definitely NOT" making a career change in 2022 has been cut in half since 2020, from 30% to only 14.8% this year.
While 48.1% of providers prefer private practice, working in a hospital-employed setting has increased in popularity over the last few years, over-taking single-specialty groups for the first time.
After anticipating a decrease in compensation in 2020, the last two years have seen providers expecting an increase in the next year's comp.
69.3% of providers have received between 3 and 20 solicitations per week for new job opportunities – that's up to 1,040 job opportunities PER YEAR!
