Survey Finds Healthcare Providers Have Lost Income and Are Less Likely to Make a Career Change

Over half (59%) of healthcare providers have experienced a decrease in income due to COVID-19, according to a recent survey. Physicians and advanced practice clinicians reported an average of 22% decrease in income compared to 2019. The survey is The Medicus Firm’s annual Practice Preference & Relocation Survey and is comprised of 2,464 responses from physicians and advanced practice clinicians across multiple specialties.

Over 45% of healthcare employers have had no change in the number of open positions for physicians or advanced practice clinicians. As well, over one-third (37%) reported they would extend job offers to physicians without conducting an onsite interview, according to a national survey. The survey was conducted by The Medicus Firm, a national physician and advanced practice clinician search firm. This survey provides insight on healthcare employers across the country and how their recruiting and staffing activities are being impacted by COVID-19.
